Goin’ Full Throttle
Yup … finally got this contraption up-and-runnin’ … and ya know what that means:

WE’RE ROCKIN’ AGAIN!!
So we’re gonna turn the amps up a notch and get biz-zeeee, startin’ with:
NEWS UPDATES
Okay … mark it on yer calendars: From here on out, May 13 will be Frank Sinatra Day (yo … it’s our tax bucks at work, Rockaholics; it was passed by Congress on … er, May … 20!) Actually, Ol’ Blue Eyes has been considered the dude who actually was “warm up” act for the rock mania to come: He was (a) young, (b) rebellious, (c) had great stage dynamics and (d) knew how to play to the audience with some great pipes! And the bobby-soxers were worked into a frenzy by him.
James Burton– the R&R HoF guitarist who played with Rick Nelson, Elvis Presley, The Shindogs and others– will be one of the first inductees into the new Fender Hall of Fame. Natch, this first group’ll also include Leo Fender.
Yesterday, Pink Floyd won the Polar Music Prize in Sweden due to all they’ve done for the cause of rock. They’ll get a $168,000 prize on August 26 (that’s when the ceremony itself takes place). And they’re in good company: Led Zeppelin, Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Quincy Jones have all won it before.
THE EROTIC DREAMS OF MRS. SLOCOMBE (PT. II)
Hey … before we close off this edition, lemme hitcha with some “heavy”. It might not be musical, but it’s kinda eerie, to a degree:
Y’know, everybody’s got cable TV these days — and there’s a new deal comin’ up stateside where all televisions will haveta switch over to cable (anyway, ditch their antenna setups) by early next year.
And, natch, computers are in just about everybody’s home now, right??
I know whatcher thinkin’: Soooooooo?!? Well, hang on, troops … it’ll all come together in a minute. But, first, one more thing:
We’re pretty much united against this Iraq thing. I mean, we invaded the country thanks to some bad 411.
Now follow me on this:
The big year for babyboomers around the globe was 1964. Everybody agree?? Well, in that important musical year:
Cable TV was first introduced to the masses.
The first mainframe computer was produced by IBM.
and …
America went into Vietnam thanks to some bad 411 about the Gulf of Tonkin.
Now … who was it that said “History has a way of repeating itself”? Man, we’re living in a world with a deja vu!
That bein’ said, lemme get outta the Twilight Zone and sign off until tomorrow (’sides, it’s 5:19 AM here … wait. Make that 5:20 AM … and I’ve gotta get some zzzzz’s with dreams that don’t include malfunctioning modems mangling my mind for a change!)
So, until then (we’ll have more on all yer faves: THE FORE, RON RYAN, the news … and a special update on PETE DINTINO!), remember:
Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.
