It’s INTERNATIONAL BEATLES WEEK!!
Geez … and you thought I forgot, right?!?
Anyway — all around the city of Liverpool (which is about to handle its eighth-century anniversary), baby-boomers to boomin’ babys are groovin’ to the tunes of John, Paul, George and Ringo. Yep, the Cavern is busy with nightly tributes, impersonators and just total 4/4 rock at its best.
In other words, business as usual … during International Beatles Week 2007!
Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a party without some special guests, like Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Undertakers (yep, they were a major group on the Liddypull scene though they never made it here in the USofA), Mike Pender’s Searchers (not to be confused with the real deal … Mike was one of the original group, but the two mainstays, including the creator John McNally, still hold the name), and others sure to pop up during the weeklong blast. They were all there at the get-go, so why not this week??
Of course, there’s a continuing tribute to John and George throughout the festivities.
When ya think about it, everything “rock” these days can be traced back to the Fab Four, especially from Sgt. Pepper to Abbey Road (’member, the Relic toted the tout about the pre-fabber Monkees, and their contributions to the rock? Well, had it not been for A Hard Day’s Night, there wouldn’t be a Mike-Micky-Davy-Peter, much less a Byrds, a Cyrkle, etc.). They injected life into a nearly-catatatatatonic scene here (dunno when to stop that word!), and gave the entire genre a personality!
So, while the Brits celebrate … we remember, and honor the Beatles (and, by extension, their various assists, including Andy White, Pete Best, Jimmy Nichol and all the guys who helped make The White Album possible as well. Hey … they helped J,G,P&R keep the rock rollin’ at different times, right?)

Relic what do u think rock would sound like 2day if not for the beatles?
