The Rock Relic

Special Request: DEFINITION

by Chuck Hinson on May 21st, 2008

Now, bear with me for a second, rockers. We’ll get back to the regular program after this brief report:

Y’see, The Relic’s been asked to “define” this blog by a H’wood “name” (ie, a ’star’) who just joined the ranks of the Rockaholics. (He required that his name wouldn’t be mentioned, though. Sorry, but … well, “man-of-my-word” and all that …) So, without further (and I don’t like lawsuits …) delay, here goes:

If you’ve been keepin’ up with this site, you’ll know it’s the music meteor that whizzes through the rock galaxy, pickin’ up rarities, little (or un-)known facts, personal experiences and more about the music that changed the world: Rock-and-Roll (especially the classic American and British sounds — and the acts that performed them)!
Sometimes you’ll find some cool quizzes inside this box of Rock (I call ‘em Didja Know …?s) so the rockers around terra firma can test their oldies knowledge.

The Rock Relic’s also proud to promote and publicize the greatest sound in almost forty years … a band that not only brings back the Hamburg/Merseyside sound that started it all but does it sincerely, with the energy, stage presence, personality and fantastic songs (all self-composed!) that’s been missing in rock for so long, THE FORE.

You’ll also find some great information and songs by one of the true legends of British rock … the man who wrote many of the early Dave Clark Five songs (including Because and Any Way You Want It) and introduced young Mitch Mitchell (later of the Jimi Hendrix Experience) to the rock world … the amazing modern songwriter/arranger Ron Ryan.

On occasion, I also give ya interviews with some of the legends of rock, including Ron Ryan, Peter Noone, Frank Allen (The Searchers), Moulty Moulton (The Barbarians) and Lloyd Thaxton.

Of course, there’s the ROCKWIRE NEWS, where you’ll get all true, fresh-off-the-vine updates and breaking stories concerning yesterday’s rockers … and what they’re up to now!

Ahhhh, and then there’s the videos. The Fore, Everly Brothers, parodies … and humor, like in this one:

In THE EROTIC DREAMS OF MRS. SLOCOMBE (Are You Being Served?), you’ll find a character named Mr. Spooner. Now, while Brits will already know, to the rest of you: This is played by Mike Berry, who is a great rock performer and recorded the #1 1961 hit, Tribute To Buddy Holly (what some say is the best tribute to the legend that’s ever been recorded).

Well, hope ya like whatcha see, oh wonderful and welcome new addition to the Rock Family! Come on by every 24 and (no, that’s hours, not days!) remember:

Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.
