The Big Crash of ‘08

by Chuck Hinson on May 15th, 2008

Well, it happened …

for whatever reason, my PC “blue-screened” itself a coupla nights ago and, though I was able to bring it back, the modem (it and the drivers) was discombobulated!
Natch, I spent a full 24 tryin’ to get it back (huh?? Have ya tried calling Microsoft® lately? After pressing “this” or “that” number, ya still wait forever … and can somebody tell me how a dude in New Delhi knows about my computer?), sooooo … here I am, on an old PC, makin’ sure I get this post done (how old is it?? Dunno … but it’s got a kerosene reservoir and comes with a candle holder!).

Anyway, the “normal” PC (hmph … as if anything’s mornal in Relicworld!) should be up and running at full speed within a coupla days, and we’ll be gettin’ back to our regular posts! So stay tuned …

ROCK UPDATES

Still got time for these rascals, though (thank God for libraries! I woulda done it on that old set, but I’m still waiting for my download from 1967 to complete):

JONATHAN KING, known not only for the ’60s hits Everyone’s Gone To The Moon and (It’s) Good News Week, has decided to tell his side of the 2001 conviction for molesting underaged boys. And he’s doing it (can you believe this?) by creating a 96-minute film musical. And (Wait … it gets better! Watch …) plays most of the roles in “Vile Pervert: The Musical”. While you’re laughing, lemme finish this part off by sayin’ he was released from prison in 2005.

And, ’cause Sir Macca so nicely promoted the new hybrid Lexus during his ‘05 tour (evidently, we’ve been set back three years in this “updates” section for some reason), they gave him a LS600h worth a cool 158G (that’s $158 THOUSAND!!) But (get this, pt. II) the company flew the car by cargo jet to Britain, creating the same carbon emissions as if they had driven the car 300 times around the world. (but, gee … how ya gonna do dat? Won’t it, like, sink somewhere in the ocean? Picky, picky, picky!)

MORE GREAT 411 ON THE FORE NEXT ISH!! SO STAY TUNED! Until then, though …

A lotta RelicMail on the recent AYBS? vids. They like ‘em, but wanna know why they’re now shown in RelicWorld! Well, remember, back-in-the-day, when we clashed (often in fun) with the older generation — one that wasn’t too keen on seeing this younger, more modern set makin’ waves? That’s what AYBS? does, if ya study it a bit.

Here … see what I mean in Pt I of Dear Sexy Knickers (don’t worry … it’s still rated PG!!).

More coming in the next ish! But, for now, time’s almost up at Stall 14 of the Uni Library here, so, until next time (whether here or with the new modem installed on the other one):

Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side.
