The Lads Are A HIT!; Rock News; AYBS?
Do I really need to repeat myself, campers?? From Shropshire to Liverpool to Essex, The Fore were on fire!
While their set on the Bootleg Beatles show was awesome, the talk of the town over this past weekend was their performance of ‘Run & Hide’ — a new song set for their next album. It was perfect for their gig at Lennon’s Bar in Liverpool where the lads played a rough and ready set. Word from their management was that it was one of their best performances yet! “Their sound guy knew exactly what he was doing! Yeah!” Neil White told me. “They finished off with a brilliant rendition of ‘You’ll Be Mine’ which sent the crowd wild, along with the assembled ‘Fore’ clan. The guy standing next to me (a Liverpudlian) said he had heard nothing like it in years and were they signed, “not YET”, I replied, he was transfixed throughout.”
Not yet … but, trust The Relic, Rockers … it’s gonna HAPPEN!!! Stay tuned to this program for complete details. MEANING: I’LL HAVE ANOTHER UPDATE ON THE SHOW IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS!! Wanna read about it ahead of time?? (Awwww, geee … steal my thunder, whydon’tcha??) Okay … get ready and read the entry near the bottom of this post, then!!
ANDY GRIFFITH and other news …
HUH?!?!
Actually, the man who wrote the intro to the famous US TV show (in fact, he did the famous whistling) has passed away at the age of 88. Earle Hagen also wrote the themes for The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Spy and Mod Squad (by the way, I’m told The Relic does a spot-on Floyd the Barber, though I’m not nearly as old … or as hairy! It does get me free haircuts, though! lol
And dig this: Who’s been voted the senior celeb with the sexiest (yes, I said it!) smile? In a British poll conducted by the organizers of National Smile Month, Mick Jagger … came in last! Of course, ya had the wonderful actress Helen Mirren, and she … came in second.
The winner?? Wouldja believe Sir James Paul McCartney?? Yup. Macca’s got the kisser that won over thousands of voters! (it’s a shame Hillary can’t say the same in America … but that’s a different story …)
FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS
Now, I’ve gotten RelicMail that’s tellin’ me you dig this UK sitcom … and for good reason: You get the mix of the “old guard” with the “new blood”. And you also get Wendy Richard (Ms. Brahms) who was a recording artist in her own right; the late John Inman (Mr. Humphries) whose “I’m freeee!” became almost a household phrase, and Mike Berry, whom I’ve introduced you to already.
But, most of all, it’s downright fun!
That being said, here’s part I of Friends and Neighbours:
Now … more in 24, okay? So enjoy the show, Rockaholics … and, for the next (roughly) 1,440 minutes, remember:
Keep your eyes on the skies, your feet on the ground, your heart with the music … and I’ll see ya on the flip side …
